Howdy - These folks are calling me a "barn cat", what exactly does that mean? Being a barn cat means that I have all the awesome and spectacular qualities of a regular cat but people just aren't my jam. I'd much rather keep my catting around to myself and my fellow felines than show off for humans. I'd prefer to have a job - like catching mice! - and be able to come and go as a I please. So if you don't mind my aloofness, have a barn/stable/warehouse/shop/dairy/brewery or other outbuilding, and you would like the added benefit of me working free of charge (well, I guess not entirely free since I will need somewhere to live, and I would also like you to feed me), then I might be just what you are looking for. The folks here at the shelter will talk to you about providing me an enclosed area that I be kept in for a period of time (bummer, but they want to make sure I get used to my new surroundings), and will want to make sure that you are willing to have food/water available for me even after I'm able to come and go (I am a cat after all - I do like to be pampered a bit, and having a food source always available makes it much more likely that I will stay put!). Also, they like us barn cats to be adopted in groups of at least two so we have someone to pal around with (believe it or not, we are communal creatures, even if we act like we can't stand each other).
