Well, hello there. Name's Cowboy and I am new to these parts. I came in as a stray, so I am making up my own backstory as we proceed with this thing called life. I chose the name Cowboy because I am as free as a tumblin' tumbleweed. I roam from one neighborhood to the next, huntin' and beggin' for my next meal. I'm mighty gentlemen-like, so it wasn't heard for me to put on the charm. I charmed someone so good, they got me to the vet and got me some keep me healthy shots and a little snip snip to keep those wild oats at bay. Then the snow came and it was mighty cold. All the critters were hunkered so no food was there for the huntn'. I found myself in quite a pickle. I got cold and sick and got stuck where I couldn't get out. The sweetest people found me and nursed me back to health. My ears and tail didn't fair so well in the cold, but I think it just adds to my rugged good looks. So how 'bout you take a gander on over to Heartland to come meet me? I'm quite the charmer, get along with both cats and dogs, so make sure you bring your carrier cause you ain't leavin' without me!Adoption processOur adoption application is easy and helps staff understand the qualities you are looking for in your new pet. You can complete the adoption application online, at home or at the shelter. You may be interested in a certain animal or we can help you find good match for you and your lifestyle. Our goal is to make the best choice possible to ensure the animals’ health, safety and happiness. We also want our adopters to be able to make an informed choice and adopt the animal that is the best fit for their family. You are encouraged to fill out the adoption application at our shelter during regular business hours.
