Blucifier.Breed: Pit Bull mixAge: 9 monthsWeight: ~55 lbs.Sex: MaleBefore OMD: At 4 months old, he was found in an embankment, emaciated, in immense pain, unable to walk, with urine-scalded paws. Animal Control found him and was confident that based on his condition and the specific location in which he was found, that he was intentionally tossed. Blu's front paws were splayed (from what we can assume was due to constant crating - essentially confirmed by the urine stains), bloodwork revealed he was anemic, and x-rays revealed that both of his back legs were fractured in the same spot, and seemingly had been for weeks.Medical deets: We worked with our primary veterinarian and an orthopedic surgeon and it took months of medication and crate rest (which unfortunately also set him back for prime socializing during his younger puppy days), but his legs healed and surgery is not recommended. Blu is now a healthy boy with no restrictions. Energy level: Medium-high. Loves a good walk and needs daily mental and physical stimulation, but also takes serious naps.Affection level: Average – he’s not your average smother-you-to-death-with-my-gigantic-not-lapdog-body pittie (IYKYK). He’s happy to just be near ya, will kiss your hand, and will accept hugs.What we love: How smart he is. His supremely perfect head tilt. Watching him entertain himself throwing his toys all around.What he loves: Blankies (sometimes so much so that they burst into confetti). Playing fetch. Toys. Treats. Marrow bones. Kongs. Antlers. Liver and lung treats. Cheese. Whipped cream.Stranger danger: Medium-high, but dissipates very quickly. Given his past, we don't exactly blame him. The formula of ignore the bark, let him come to you, hand him a cookie without interacting has worked well. A yummy treat will have you fast friends in about 15 seconds flat. Black box warning: This dude is mouthy. Well… chompy is more accurate TBH. And he’s still young so those pearly whites can be sharp. The down and dirty: He's working on emotional regulation and making good decisions (think teenager!). He gets overstimulated easily and that turns off the good decision and good manners parts of his brain. Once he’s overexcited, he goes from soft, mushy-skinned handsome boy to fresh teenager combined with a land shark. He.is.mouthy. He’ll poke holes in your expensive winter coat, chomp the back of your boots, turn his leash into a tug toy, and grab your apple watch off your wrist (yes, these are first hand experiences).The silver lining: He is exceptionally smart. He absolutely wants to be your very best boy. We know he can be transformed into a well-manned, adult but his adopter is going to have to put the work in. His foster has already put in so much work with him already and he has now completed a board and train. This boy IS WORTH IT, he just needs a committed forever person. What he knows: Sit. Stay. Down. Up. Potty. Let’s go. Eyes. Place. Settle. Dogs: Depends on the dog. Blu is larger, under-socialized, and in his young teenager era. Resident dog(s) will need to be patient, provide acceptable corrections, and be okay with an annoying little brother. TBH success will mostly be determined by the humans and how they manage the introductions and interactions. Cats: Wayyyyyy to exciting. No.Kids: Would you let your kid pet megalodon? Well… actually we know some of you would. No kids.House-trained: Yes!Crate-trained: Yep! Blu is neutered, vaccinated, heartworm negative, and microchipped.
